Background to MiFID

This session will explore the background and key objectives of MiFID as part of the Financial Services Action Plan (FSAP) and identify its development in replacing the 1993 Investment Services Directive.

• The Evolution of MiFID - looking at the development of the Directive from its roots in the original Investment Services Directive of 1993 including the Lamfalussy process
• Outlining the key themes and objectives of MiFID
• Where are we now? An outline of the current proposals and latest Level 2 developments
