Chase Cooper, the City-based business compliance specialist will be running a series of intensive one-day workshops on "Preparing for MiFID" from May through to the end of July this year. MiFID has been described as the most far-reaching reform off any major financial market ever undertaken. It will impact every aspect of a business from corporate governance through to the IT systems which support the business day to day, permanently changing the way many types of financial institution operate. The Chase Cooper workshop will explore the full scope of the changes which MiFID will introduce and help delegates plan how they can benefit from the opportunities, respond to the threats and achieve compliance at minimum cost. The intended audience for the workshop includes senior management, risk and compliance officers and operations and IT managers.
MiFID is a major part of the European Union's Financial Services Action Plan. It will create a single market in financial services, enabling investment firms to compete more easily across Europe on the basis of a single regulatory authorisation from their home country. However, the challenges of becoming MiFID compliant are far from trivial. The Directive will affect corporate governance, sales and marketing, trading and operations and, for the unprepared, has many pitfalls. This Chase Cooper workshop will help delegates come to grips with the detailed requirements of the MiFID directives and understand how these will affect the areas in which they work. By the end of the workshop each delegate will be well-equipped to develop a personal action plan for his or her own business area, helping to ensure that their company achieves compliance in a timely, cost effective manner.
Chase Cooper already runs a successful series of workshops on Operational Risk and Compliance and introduced the MiFID workshop in response to requests from customers and previous course delegates. The MiFID workshop will be led by Ranil Perera and Tony Blunden from Chase Cooper. Ranil has worked in the Finance Sector for fifteen years, seven of these with the FSA. Over the last two years he has specialised in risk and regulatory compliance and helped a number of Finance Sector companies achieve compliance status. Tony Blunden has worked in the City of London for over 30 years, primarily in the area of risk management. Until joining Chase Cooper as Director of Consulting he was Director of Operational Risk in the Financial Services Risk Management Practice at Ernst and Young
